Today, as many of you know, is Election Day. For many of you, that may be a relief (no more annoying phone calls or ads or signs!) and for some this may a bit terrifying. Election Day is kind of exciting to me. I am beyond excited that I get to vote next year. I think that it’s amazing that we live in a country that allows us to vote for its own history. I am thankful that we live in a country that allows us to make decisions that we often prayerfully consider.
There’s always that bout of anxiousness as well. What if the American people don’t choose a president or decide on laws or amendments that will help our country? What if things only grow worse? What if? What If? I don’t know what the future brings nor does anyone else (besides, of course, God). However, the future is for us to be worried about. God has got us and He is in control, regardless of the outcome of the election.
Today, I am most thankful that when the results are announced, no matter the outcome, God is still in charge.
“Yes, the Sovereign Lord is coming in power.
He will rule with a powerful arm.
See, he brings his reward with him as he comes.” Isaiah 40:10
On this day, Election Day 2016, I am thankful that no matter what laws pass or don’t pass or no matter who gets elected, God is in charge. I am thankful that God has our days figured out inside and out, upside and downside. No matter what happens tomorrow, no matter what changes will or will not be made, God know the plans for tomorrow. No matter who gets elected tomorrow, as always, God is sovereign. No man- or woman- can change that.
